Connect Climate is an initiative of Gasy Youth Up to engage various stakeholders (already active and potential ones) public-CSO-private sector in dialogue and best practices sharing and reflection on common challenges and opportunities on REDD+, climate change and environment protection in general and to build on existing synergies. Connect Climate served for GYU an opportunity to present and share best practices on Miara-Mikajy ny Tontolo. Moreover the platform serves as a channel to present the REDD+ national strategy to engage all the stakeholders in the vision set up by the national REDD+ coordination in the strategy and how we can better engage and participate.
The workshop as a CSO initiative gives room to enhance more and effective CSO participation via the regional-national- youth networks and also to strengthening information sharing around REDD+ with private sector representatives. GYU maximized the venue to advocate for meaningful engagement and other stakeholders to partake in the REDD+ mechanism and climate change actions. Youth participation was discussed and highlighted during the panels of the workshop, how can we better integrate and enhance youth participation looking at challenges and opportunities of an effective youth mainstream and participation as part of CSO in the REDD+ process and fight against climate change building on gained experiences and knowledge and impacts without losing sight emergins issues and opportunities.
